We came to Dallas for a concert and our pickup was burglarized the first night of our stay.

The thieves broke out the passenger side front glass of my 4 door pickup and took a few things but nothing of real value because we made sure there was nothing inside worth stealing. I called Glass America and unlike the hotel staff and parking lot security who showed no interest in our situation, the folks at Glass America sincerely expressed their concern for our problem, checked and saw they had a replacement side glass in stock, and set an appointment within the next few hours. We arrived and they got to work immediately. About 45 minutes later, the new glass was installed and functioned as original. We still made the concert but decided to leave afterwards because we just didn’t feel like our vehicle would be safe another night. The hotel amenities were very nice but there was no way the staff could guarantee our property was safe. Even though Glass America did an awesome job at a very fair price, we just didn’t want to take the chance of giving them more business. But, if we had decided to stay and it happened again, I wouldn’t hesitate to call the folks at Glass America because I know they would do the job at a fair price and have it done quickly and professionally. Thank you Glass America staff.

Does comprehensive insurance cover windshield replacement?

Often, yes. Comprehensive coverage typically covers glass damage from events like rocks and road debris, hail, falling objects, and vandalism. Whether your replacement is covered, and how much you pay, depends on your specific policy and your state. Your insurance company makes the final coverage decision.

Will I have to pay a deductible?

Usually your comprehensive deductible applies to a windshield replacement. Some drivers have optional full-glass or zero-deductible glass coverage, and some insurers waive the deductible for chip repairs. Check your policy or ask your insurer.

If your deductible is close to the replacement price, paying out of pocket may be simpler, and the provider can give you a cash quote to compare. The glass provider cannot waive a deductible your policy requires.

I don't have insurance. Can I still get my windshield replaced?

How long does windshield replacement take?
